You can learn much about a lawyer from what happens during your first interview and what you see around you. Here
is a list of what to look for:

Are you consulting with an experienced attorney or a paralegal?
Are you consulting with the head of the law firm?
Do they return your phone calls?
Can the lawyer answer your questions in a way you understand?
Does the lawyer have experience in accident and injury work?
Does the lawyer appear to take your case seriously?
Does the office appear to be well organized?
Does the lawyer have support staff to keep things moving when he/she is working on another case?
How long has he/she practiced law?
Does he or she own or rent the office they occupy?
Which attorneys will work on your case?

What Questions Should I Ask the Lawyer?
How bad is it?
Do I have a case?
Are there any critical time limits involved in filing a suit?
Do I have to file suit?
What rules apply to my situation?
What are my options?
Have you handled many cases like mine?
What is your success rate?
Do you usually have a jury trial?
What course of action do you suggest?
What are the steps and time frame that are involved?
What are the odds of recovering damages?
What is the total cost of your fees?
How long should this process take?
Will you be handling my case?
Who is going to handle my case?
Can I meet your legal staff?
